4 shortlisted Patron's Award entries

We're delighted to announce the top ten Age Concern’s Patron’s award contenders.

We asked both the public and the media to post positive images of older people on our Facebook page and were thrilled to receive more than sixty entries.

Public voting on these has determined a shortlist of ten photographs. Five of these are from the public category and five from the media.

The shortlist

Public: Rebecca Dymond; Leah Johnston; Colin Prince; Karl Roberts; Tony Shelbourne.

Media: Chris Banks; Alison Brown;  Ross Giblin; Phil Reid; Ben Watson.
Selected media entries came from publications including The Dominion Post and Number 8 Films.

Entries shown above are by L Johnston (dogs), C Prince (hug), K Roberts (21st hug), and R Dymond (tea party), others will be featured on this site before the judging day.

Patron's Award winners

Category winners will be determined by Age Concern Board, staff and invited guests voting on the shortlisted entries at an award ceremony held in Wellington on 30 September, as part of  International Day of Older Persons celebrations.

The Age Concern Patron’s Award was established in 2009 as a way to challenge ageist attitudes and stereotypes about growing older.
